Application for Legal Services

Welcome! Community College Students can apply for help from the Harriett Buhai Center for Family Law using this online application. This application is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. At the end of the application, you will receive additional information about the next steps.

By clicking “I understand and agree” below, I am confirming that I have read, understood, and agree to the following:
  • I understand that completing this form does not guarantee an appointment, a call back, or that my case will be accepted for services at the Harriett Buhai Center for Family Law.

  • I understand that after completing this form, I will still need to qualify for services at the Harriett Buhai Center for Family Law.

  • I understand that filling out this application does not make me a client of the Harriett Buhai Center for Family Law and does not create a lawyer- client relationship with the Harriett Buhai Center for Family Law.

  • I understand the online form will take approximately 5 minutes and I agree to answer each question truthfully to the best of my abilities. I understand that if I cannot complete the form, I can apply for services by contacting the Harriett Buhai Center for Family Law at 213-388-7515.

  • I understand the form will ask for a safe email address and I am required to only use a safe email address when communicating with the Center. This means that no one other than me has access to my email account. This includes my spouse, partner, children, family members, friends, and employer. By choosing to continue to submit the application, I am consenting to receive emails.

  • The Harriett Buhai Center for Family is only providing services over the telephone right now. I have a place where I can have private phone conversations. Please keep in mind that HBCFL will be contacting you from a blocked number to ensure confidentiality. I understand that if I cannot have a private phone conversation, I should call 211 to be connected to a service provider that can provide in person services.

  • The Center only assists with domestic violence restraining order cases, custody and visitation in family court cases, parentage cases, and dissolution of marriage cases. I understand if I have a different type of legal issue, I should call 211 to be referred to an appropriate provider.

  • I have read the information above and agree.
