Application for Legal Services

Thank you for contacting Legal Services of Central New York, and our Online Intake program. We need to gather some information from you, so that we can find out how we can best help you. These questions usually take 5-10 minutes to complete. If you close your browser, you will need to start the application process from the beginning.

If you have a short deadline, such as a court or hearing date within the next week, or court papers which need a response within the next week, please call our Legal Helpline at 877-777-6152 and indicate that you have an emergency.

In order to qualify for our services, you must have a civil legal problem in Onondaga, Oneida, Broome, Oswego, Jefferson, Otsego, Cayuga, Cortland, Madison, Chenango, Delaware, Herkimer, or Lewis county.

We are only able to help people who fall within our financial guidelines. To help us determine whether you financially qualify for our services, we will ask you about your income and finances.Please have any relevant documents handy before you start your application.

Legal Services of Central New York works with our partner agency, the Legal Aid Society of Mid-New York, and may share your information with that agency if they are better able to serve you.

Any information which you provide us will remain confidential, and will not be disclosed without your permission, except as noted above. Information provided may be used by Legal Services of Central New York in order to better serve our clients.

We cannot accept every case. You do not become a client unless we tell you that we accept your case.

We cannot help with traffic tickets, criminal cases, personal injury lawsuits, or intellectual property matters . For these types of cases, you will need to hire a private attorney. You can find help in locating a private attorney in your area through the New York Bar Association at: https://www.findalawyernys.org/about.

Once we have initially reviewed your information, one of our intake specialists will call you within 1-2 business days to confirm your information, and to gather additional information. If we take your case after a full review, an attorney will contact you. If we cannot take your case for some reason, we will contact you as soon as we have made that determination.
